Brews, Clues & Rescues Scavenger Hunt Draws Nearly 100 Participants to Downtown Rome
Downtown Rome was filled with excitement on Saturday as 20 teams and nearly 100 participants took part in the inaugural Brews, Clues & Rescues Scavenger Hunt, benefiting Rome for the Rescues.
Held alongside the Summer Sidewalk Extravaganza, the event challenged teams to search for 21 clues hidden throughout Broad Street while exploring local businesses, interacting with the community, and competing for prizes.
"It was absolutely fantastic," said Fran Coleman, founder of Broadley Speaking Productions and event coordinator. "My dream would have been having 20 teams, and we had that."
To create a unique downtown experience, clues were designed around local businesses and landmarks. Participants ventured into shops, completed photo challenges, and even interacted with local law enforcement and community members along the way.
"We had a great mix of people competing," Coleman said. "Everybody had a good time."
To keep everyone comfortable during the summer heat, teams were divided between the north and south sides of Broad Street before switching locations midway through the event.
The hunt concluded at The Vogue, where participants gathered for prizes and celebration. Thanks to generous donations from local businesses, prizes were awarded to top-performing teams, including co-first-place winners Yancey/Cates Kitty Sleuths and Four Dog Knight.
Following the hunt, many participants enjoyed the downtown concert before returning to The Vogue for an after-party attended by more than 100 people.
"It was fantastic, and it could not have been a better day," Coleman said.
Most importantly, proceeds from the event will help support local nonprofit animal rescue organizations through Rome for the Rescues.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, donated prizes, and helped make the first Brews, Clues & Rescues Scavenger Hunt such a success. We can't wait to do it again!
